Our Mission

Our Mission Statement

‘In the shadows of Northern Nevada, where vulnerable youth have been pushed aside, Youth Harbor stands as a sanctuary, offering the lifeline and dignity every forgotten youth deserves We go where others won’t to reach runaway and crisis-impacted youth, letting them know they are seen, heard, and infinitely valued. We offer more than just vital resources; we provide a steady, compassionate hand to guide them toward safety. We are moved by the transformative love of Christ, a love that pierces the deepest pain, heals the broken, and softens even the most guarded hearts.’

Suicide is now the leading cause of death in the homeless youth population. Mortality rates due to suicide in this area can be as much as 20 times higher than in the general population. It is estimated that annually, over 5000 kids die due to disease, violence or suicide due to the stress they were running from coupled with the stress of having to live on the street alone.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimates that within 48 hours of hitting the streets, one-third of these kids are lured or recruited into the underground world of prostitution and pornography.
Statisically, 65% of runaways are girls. The average age of a runaway is 14.7 years old.
“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven”.
